Chandler
As one of the West's most underrated towns, it's a spectacular composite of Arizona's frontier history, a diverse culture and a high-tech economy.
Throw in one of the nation's highest growth rates, the Valley's first luxury resort and upscale shopping unmatched anywhere in the East Valley. Then you begin to get a picture of Chandler.
Its visage is formed in part by the more than 1,000 acres of alfalfa fields turned into high-dollar subdivisions and the most prominent high-tech industrial sector in these parts. It's a culturally and economically balanced municipality whose population is rising so quickly that build-out is expected in 2010 - a decade sooner than originally projected.
It's also a young city - it won't be a centurion until 2012 - that still is learning to celebrate its diverse culture and the rich influence of its Hispanic pioneers.
In all, the city lives up to the progressive expectations of its Mexican settlers and its founder, Dr. Alexander John Chandler, a veterinary surgeon with Canadian roots.
Be sure to visit and dine at some of Chandler Arizonas best restaurants, cafes, pubs and fine dining establishments.
